COFFEE, TEA AND VILLAGE IN STRAW

This morning a transit mini bus, paid a little too expensive, we passed the customs of Cambodia Laos, after several hours, we arrived in the town of Pakse (Laos map http://www.thaiflyingclub.com/images/linkTFCfiles/mapLaosMac.jpg ) for just $ 15 for two, we will stay in a beautiful colonial-style house. From this point, Lisa (English), ester (Holandaise), Peter and me, we book an organized tour to visit the area around the plate Pakse.Sur Boloven, we will see a tea plantation, maintained by a Chinese family and also a coffee plantation, the famous coffee Boloven Laos, it is delicious! Olivier I think of you!

chutte One of the two ...

... Two falls. We also had the chance to see a bustling village (ethnic minority) who speaks Katu. Here I think of you Katoo. It is an ancient nomadic village who settled permanently on the shelf Boloven. In this village there were lots of naked children were running in all directions, we could see a lot of sick children by the color of their skin, their hair loss. A woman fed her child for two weeks with the fingers, one can imagine that her breast milk was not very good because of the lack of meal bonus. She has also asked our driver if we had drugs to give him ... Despite tristeste to see these fragile children, women and men who seem to suffer from extreme poverty, the fact remains that this village was very touching. Free smiles, their kindness, their generosity and welcome us to their village ...

In this village, children start smoking at the age of three years is the custom.

FINALLY THE MOUNTAIN ...
second city of Laos, Thakhek! We are now in central Laos, here is my birthday! and now we rent bikes for the day. Going through the campaign, we découvront plains of rice fields and ... karst mountains: Amazing mountain building in Asia, found also in Halong Bay in Vietnam, the Yunnan in southern China and I also heard that there were in Cuba! Most of these mountains have cave, we have seen a which contained hundreds of Buddhas, but to get there was adventure! I tell you: In the bike we took an old railway that dates back to 1920 where the bridges are still standing. After 8 miles of dirt road in the mountains, far away from everything, we're almost arrived. But, surprise, most of the way! It was a lake ... and the cave was on the other side of the lake. Mmm ... how to get there? We parked our bikes and started to walk in water. Suddenly a boat appeared as if by magic, amid the end of the world for us to fly to the cave of the Buddhas.

The path to the cave is over ...

A DINNER PARTY:)
This evening, though, as it falls it's my birthday, we select the best restore the village, no waiting Please we are in Laos! The restaurant in question does not make wine. Well ... Pierre left with a server the restaurant at the boutique village of alcohol and reviend to my surprise with a bottle of Chateau Bordeaux Superieur Timberlay 2003 ... remenoum! What wine! And a birthday cake and four candles! cute! The food was excellent, the service also, in addition to the cake that Peter bought the restaurant gave me a creme caramel! Ze restaurant: http://www.inthirahotel.com/restaurant-Bar.htmlDepuis long I n had not had a supper of this class! Another memorable birthday !!!...

Quanrante kek ... It's your guess!

VIP BUS ...
Yay! a true VIP bus to Vientiane! Because the bus was before the price of a bus without air conditioning but VIP, cabbage around the bus and on the roof of the bus ... Finally arrived in Vientiane, again we find ourselves in a great hotel in French colonial style, breakfast included! We rent bikes and will go around the city, we will: 1) the arch of triumph in Vientiane 2) the public market (which stank), 3) a good vegetarian food for lunch, 4) visiting a beautiful Buddhist temple that contains 2000 Buddhas, 5) one of the oldest temple in Vientiane to take up again! and 5) will end on the edge of the Mekong River in a bar instead of tables, have small huts on stilts with plenty of cushion! Exotic right?

Along the Mekong flood water came up to this point ...

Here is the company with whom we deal for our kayak ...

decent RIVER
Vientiane again, but this time we go by tuktuk at about two hours from the city to get to the river there NamLik for kayaking in the rapids! We descend the rapids for a good two hours for me will be memorable! It was something! For those who know me when I canoed, I remind you that this time, whitewater RIII, I stayed in the kayak :)...

encounters is what one remembers most at the end of our trip!
Here our two Quebecers Erika and Jeff

... In the evening return to Vientiane, we have for a 5th time since the beginning of our journey, a re-encounter with Erika and Jeff, our two Quebecers who, like us, go around the world! Maybe we'll see us in Chang Mai in Thailand.

Pond paying to go to our guesthouse Vangvieng

VANG VIENG

Here we are at Vangvieng, halfway between Vientiane and Luang Prabang, here we are very impressed by these famous karst mountains still higher Thakhek only! We arrived, and with perceverance we cross the small bridge on foot fee to walk with our big bags until ghesthouse Maylyn. Surprise! we find a paradise! Bungalo our little stuck on the river, has a spectacular view of rice fields and mountains! It's simply fantastic! The same evening we reserve our fish on the BBQ for supper, the house specialty, but what a fish! Texture of lobster, bursting with lemon grass and garlic, what a joy for the palate! ...

... At the wake we leave with our two rented bikes, walking in the countryside, rice fields and mountains. We find a cave with a small turquoise river, this time the cave is wild, he must climb 100 meters before reaching it! It measures 500 meters deep, we are alone, it's very mysterious, it is huge! It's dark, silence and water runny it's intense! At the end of our visit we take the opportunity to downpour the "body" in the river with curious fish!

Here's what I air on the internet when I write on blogging ...

Remembrance bomb recycled. American bombs for Vietnam, Laos weighted, it worked in bomb cota Large ...

IS THE TUBE TIME
A classic Vangvieng make it down the river in tubes! A tuk-tuk to take us about 7 km upstream of the city, and leaves us there, each with a tube, we float away with the current until Vangvieng. During our descent into the stream, on each side of the river, a dozen bar with intense sound system, we ask that we stop for a drink! And yes! we're off! Thank you very mutch, Sioned, for the pictures:)

Between Vangvieng and Luang Prabang, a puncture, it is only our second since the beginning of the trip:) anyway!

Housing mountains

Luang Prabang ...

Luang Prabang
buses, it often takes ISSA me tell you! The last, I have a lot assessed, that Vangvieng in Luang Prabang. We start from a nearly flat and the mountains begin to succeed ...
